North Andover woman charged with running house of prostitution
LAWRENCE, Mass. -- A North Andover woman is accused of running a house of prostitution.
Thirty-two-year-old Melissa Halstrom is charged with inducing a minor to prostitution, maintaining a house of prostitution, deriving support from prostitution and posing or exhibiting a child in a sexual act, among other charges.
She pleaded not guilty in Lawrence District Court.
A spokesman for the Essex district attorney's office says Halstrom is charged with running the prostitution ring out of her apartment at 93 Elm Street.
During her arraignment, Halstrom was ordered held on $150,000 cash bail.
The case was continued until October 5 for a probable cause hearing.
Halstrom's attorney, John Valerio, did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
