U.S. House District 2 Election (NH): Hardy Macia

Hardy Macia is the Libertarian candidate for New Hampshire’s 2nd congressional district.

Macia lives in Canterbury, NH. He and his wife, Heidi, have two boys Austyn (9) and Matthew (8) and a 170-pound Newfoundland named Lambrusco who they rescued. They also have a rescue cat named Stanley who is also on the large side of the scale for cats.

Macia started Catamount Software 19 years ago with a focus on mobile software development. The company’s current focus is on iPhone/iPad and Android applications. PocketMoney is the flagship product and it turned 18-years-old this summer making it one of the oldest mobile applications in existence. PocketMoney is a personal financial application to help users track their money and follow a budget -- something the government ought to be doing. He works from home in Canterbury, also has an office in Portsmouth with a mixture of full time staff and interns from UNH.

He also serves on the board of The Advocates for Self-Government, a 503c organization which focuses on helping libertarians become better communicators. They are best known for The World’s smallest Political Quiz which is taken millions of times each year online, in classrooms, and at outreach events hosted by various political groups each year.

He also serve on the board of The National Youth Rights Association, a 503c organization which focuses on ending age discrimination of young people.

His political experience includes serving as Chair of the Grand Isle selectboard in 2000 where he had the small business tax repealed and fixed the local zoning laws to enable day care providers to erect swing sets and allow residents to build bird houses and tree houses.
